(Permanent) guest

For a few days now, a black cat has been prowling around the school, squatting in front of the entrance doors, mewing and constantly trying to get into the school. The cat has been here in the schoolyard on and off for a long time, never for long, it must be somewhere nearby.

What to do? Well, Kira and Lena took care of it a bit, put a basket in front of the door for the night, what can you do? But that can't be a permanent solution, it gets quite cold at night.

She also seems to be injured, no one is allowed to touch her near her right hind leg. Apart from that, she looks very well-groomed for a stray.

The next day, word must have got around that there is a "school cat", food donations, good advice and tips start pouring in from all sides, by the afternoon everything looks good, she still wants to go to school, in the meantime she is the topic of conversation everywhere. But then the attempt to introduce her to a vet and then place her with a host family 5 km from here ends in disaster. Nobody knows exactly what happened, but in the evening, at the end of a parents' evening at the school, several teachers reported that the cat was back. She seemed distraught.

And so she moved into our basement, entry and exit points were created, blankets and cushions provided, my girls were in luck.

The next day, by now the third, brought endless phone calls, attempts to find a vet, to inform the public order office, to contact the animal shelter - it's funny what you can experience. Remarkably, we had a telephone conversation with an elderly lady who works for an association that looks after cats. We were supposed to find a doctor, costs would be covered up to a certain amount, and if nothing worked, she would take care of it.

Finally, in the late afternoon, we got a call from a vet in the neighbourhood who was willing to look at Felix. And in the evening? Felix is quite lethargic, meanwhile Kira suspects that Felix is more Feli and is very worried that Feli(x) could be more seriously ill after all. In the meantime we are well supplied with food, we also got a transport box - will we still need it tomorrow?

A somewhat restless night, in the morning Silvia didn't dare to go to the cellar alone, not knowing what to expect.

But the all-clear is given, Feli(x) is chipper and hungry. At half past eight the doorbell rings, the public order office is there, wants to take the cat to the animal shelter - uproar everywhere, this is not a lost property, this is a living being. After the information that Feli(x) has to be presented to the animal shelter for identification measures and that the owner has six months to reclaim his cat, they are off again.

The cellar slowly fills up with food, transport box, bowls, everything the animal needs. 10 o'clock, vet time! Today it went without a hitch, everything OK, healthy, about 10 years old, a little flea, a little worm, otherwise all good.
